The planets in our Solar System each take a set time to do a full cycle around our Sun. As they make this journey we can note them moving through the 12 zodiac signs. When a planet has completed a full cycle (from where it was when we were born) we call this a Return. Significant lessons, experiences and life events are noted at these times of our lives.
The Saturn Return happens at 29, 58 and 87 years of age, marking a time of maturity for us all, a time to review our past and to set new pathways into place. It signifies a major decision in our lives, which will be based upon the location of where it is in our birth chart – for some this will be career based, others relationships will be structured, for some parenting will be the focus and for some travel or home developments. What is common for all is the need to set the foundation for the next 29 years of our life.
The Chiron return happens at the age of 50 – 51. Chiron represents our need to improve, to eliminate, cleanse and to focus on tidying up. At this age we are to assess the leakages of energy in our lives and to rectify this situation either through generating better systems or by eliminating the unwanted habits and patterns. Chiron, wherever it is in your chart shows where you need to be fussy, to give yourself permission to have everything exactly right.
Significant events can also be noted with the ¼ turn, the ½ way point and the ¾ turn of the cycles. Uranus half way around the chart happens at 40 – 42 years of age; often called the mid-life crisis. It is a time for us to question the inspiration in our lives, to be aware of where we feel bored, stuck, stale or stagnant and to find ways to re-energize ourselves again. This can be reckless, ruthless and radical but really only needs to be in relation to where it sits by zone in your chart as to what you need to change and uplift – too many people do throw the baby out with the bath water!
The cycles of growth are important to note as they give us times of initiation, of taking the next step of learning and life experiences, of shaping our lives accordingly. To move with these changes is wise and efficient.
